MO Raw Count Map (Description)

Note: The State of Missouri contains both counties and independent cities each acting as an independent statistical area.

This map illustrates the LEP statistical areas of Missouri with pie charts of the top five LEP statistical areas:

Clay County-Light Yellow Shading

Jackson County-Pale Orange Shading

St Charles County-Light Yellow Shading

City of St Louis-Pale Orange Shading

St Louis County-Pale Orange Shading

Each statistical area is color shaded to indicate the total number of limited English proficient (LEP) persons in the statistical area. We have defined LEP persons as individuals five years and over who speak a language other than English at home and who have indicated that they speak English less than very well (LVW). For each of the top five LEP statistical areas, we have provided a pie chart that breaks down the top five languages spoken in the statistical area (according to the total number of each language spoken) with the remaining languages in a sixth category called “All Other Languages”.

Raw Counts:

The colors correspond to the total number of LEP individuals in the statistical areas as follows:

  • Pale White: (<=1K)
  • Light Yellow: (>1K AND <=10K)
  • Pale Orange: (>10K AND <=50K)
  • Orange: (>50K AND <=100K)
  • Dark Orange: (>100K AND <= 250K)
  • Brown: (>250K AND <=750K)
  • Dark Brown: (>750K)

The statistical areas in Missouri are shaded to indicate the number of limited English proficient (LEP) persons in the statistical areas. We have defined LEP persons as individuals five years or older who speak a language other than English at home and who have indicated that they speak English less than very well (LVW). The tables explain the raw count number and percentage of LEP persons by language spoken for Missouri’s Top five statistical areas.
